This week and until May 8th, The MFA in Theatre Candidates have made their solos available for viewing through our remote learning site.
During their time at Sarah Lawrence, our graduate students have both studied, and have had practical experiences in playwriting, design, directing, devising, and acting, as well as a variety of other disciplines that make up the art of theater. The solo form is a place where all those creative practices can easily intersect. As such, the Thesis solos in this series can be seen as the culmination of two years of study.
Though they are Thesis performances, they are presented as “works-in-progress” by design. Our extraordinary graduating MFA theater-makers will continue to develop, adapt and present these solos in venues beyond Sarah Lawrence and around the globe. These works have been thought about by this year’s cohort of MFA candidates for two years, actively developed for one year, and due to COVID-19, have been adapted for a 2-D presentation (film/internet) during the past month.
